How to Apply Rounded Corners to Controls (Non-NOMADS)

PxPlus 2026 introduced the Corner Radius property, which lets you round the corners of panel controls instead of leaving them square, for a more modern look.

This tutorial shows how to apply rounded corners to buttons, standard check boxes, drop boxes, and multi-lines when not using NOMADS.

Corner rounding is controlled by the CornerRadius$ property for most controls, with two exceptions: check boxes and radio buttons.

A standard check box (with no bitmap) uses a dedicated CbCornerRadius$ property instead. Once a bitmap is added, the check box takes on the appearance and behavior of a button, and its rounding is then controlled by the CornerRadius$ property.

A standard radio button (with no bitmap) is always round and has no CornerRadius$ property. Once a bitmap is added, the radio button takes on the appearance and behavior of a button, and its rounding is then controlled by the CornerRadius$ property. Radio buttons are not covered in this tutorial.

Most list box types, except Report View and Variable List Box, also support corner rounding via the CornerRadius$ property. List boxes are not covered in this tutorial.

The table below summarizes this information based on control type:

Control Type

Property

Accepted Values

Button

CornerRadius$

(Null), Round, Square, or a value from 0 to 255

Multi-Line

CornerRadius$

(Null), Round, Square, or a value from 0 to 7

Drop Box and Variable Drop Box

CornerRadius$

(Null), Round, Square, or a value from 0 to 3

Check Box (with a bitmap - behaves like a button)

CornerRadius$

(Null), Round, Square, or a value from 0 to 255

Check Box (with no bitmap - standard check box)

CbCornerRadius$

(Null), Round, Square, or a value from 0 to 255

List Box (all types except Report View and Variable List Box)

CornerRadius$

(Null), Round, Square, or a value from 0 to 8

Radio Button (with a bitmap - behaves like a button)

CornerRadius$

(Null), Round, Square, or a value from 0 to 255

Radio Button (with no bitmap - standard radio button)

Not Applicable

Always Round

Corner Rounding - Buttons

To round the corners of a button, set the CornerRadius$ property when defining the button control.

1.

Define the button control as you normally would.

2.

Add a line to specify the CornerRadius$ property for that control ID.

3.

Set this property to "Round", "Square", or a value from 0 to 255.

Example:

Button with CornerRadius$ set to "Round":

     BUTTON 100,@(10,10,12,3)="{!Stop}"
     y=100
     y'CornerRadius$="Round"

Corner Rounding - Check Boxes

To round the corners of a standard check box (with no bitmap defined), set the CbCornerRadius$ property when defining the check box control.

1.

Define the check box control as you normally would.

2.

Add a line to specify the CbCornerRadius$ property for that control ID.

3.

Set this property to "Round", "Square", or a value from 0 to 255.

Example:

Standard Check Box with CbCornerRadius$ set to "Round":

     CHECK_BOX 100,@(12,12,20,10)="Accept Terms"
     y=100
     y'CbCornerRadius$="Round"

Corner Rounding - Drop Boxes

To round the corners of a drop box, set the CornerRadius$ property when defining the drop box control.

1.

Define the drop box control and load its list items as you normally would.

2.

Add a line to specify the CornerRadius$ property for that control ID.

3.

Set this property to "Round", "Square", or a value from 0 to 3.

Example:

Drop Box with CornerRadius$ set to a value of 3:

     DROP_BOX 100,@(10,15,12,8)
     DROP_BOX LOAD 100,"cat/dog/horse/pig/"
     y=100
     y'CornerRadius$="3"

Corner Rounding - Multi-Lines

To round the corners of a multi-line, set the CornerRadius$ property when defining the multi-line control.

1.

Define the multi-line control as you normally would.

2.

Add a line to specify the CornerRadius$ property for that control ID.

3.

Set this property to "Round", "Square", or a value from 0 to 7.

Example:

Multi-Line with CornerRadius$ set to "Round":

     MULTI_LINE 100,@(10,15,10,2)
     y=100
     y'CornerRadius$="Round"

You can use these same properties to apply rounded corners when defining controls outside of NOMADS. By using different CornerRadius$ and CbCornerRadius$ settings, you can adjust the appearance of individual controls to suit your application.
